So fun. Hyped for NCD !

Thank you so much. NCD will still take a while though I'm afraid, development is on hold while I earn more experience with smaller games before I tackle that one. But it's coming! (Just might take a couple years...)

Cool thanks. I hope you continue to expand this.

Yeah, I've planned more for sure, though the next few updates will probably be mostly bugfixes and smaller features until I have more time again. Thanks for the support! I appreciate it!

i thought i'd be able to run this i have an intel i5 but it's hella laggy. anything i can do about that?

Hi, in its current state the game is still pretty demanding on hardware. Please let me also know what GPU you have, so I can make a note in my performance sheet. Have you tried changing the screen resolution in the options?

i changed my resolution but it didnt help much. how exactly do i check my gpu?

Ok I see, I'll let you know when I manage to get the game more optimized.
On Windows you can find your GPU if you open the Device Manager and check under Display adapters.

Hi, great looking game! On my M1 mac, i recieve the following error when trying to open.

'The application “Iron Guardian” can’t be opened.'

I tried enabling rosetta on it too however it still failed. Just thought i'd let you know.

Thanks, it's always tricky to build game applications on a windows machine for mac OS because of the permission system mac has.

If possible you could try to change the permissions via terminal:

  1.  Open Terminal
  2. cd to the *.app folder
  3. xattr -rc *.app
  4. Double-click, it opens

Let me know if that works for you

Same error unfortunately

Hmm sorry about that. I'll have a look and test it with some friends who have macbooks here when I have time again. Thanks for letting me know!

I understand, I’ll check in again later, excited to check it out!

Hi, I just made an update and figured out a way to open the game on mac, at least I managed to do it on a MacBook Air which wasn't strong enough to play it, but at least I got it to open haha

Open Terminal and type "chmod -R 755 " and drag the .app into the window, which will bring the full path into Terminal. It will look like this:

chmod -R 755 Path\ to\ app\ file.app

Press Return. Then you can open the app file normally, but it will prompt the gatekeeper which can't verify the app. Instead right click on the app and choose Open, which will give you the Open option during the verify prompt. Alternatively you can go into "Security and Privacy" in "System Preferences" and then click to allow the app to open.

Let me know if that works for you!

Closest I've gotten to getting to mess around with an Eva unit. I love the presentation of the Mech as a clunky agile Iron giant type beat but uh, the spacebar won't even jump me so I can't get past the second puzzle. Really amazing proof of concept but I can't even finish the proof of concept. Also I liked the bit of dialogue I got to experience.

Thanks for playing and your feedback! The jumping mechanic is set up that the jump charges by holding space and on releasing the key you jump. didn't have enough time for including proper explanations. Please try it, it's a lot of fun to jump around the town

All I ask is that you give the mech a flight ability so I can get to the top of this tower. ;) You have some very nice vertical design here and it is a shame that it cant be explored. On and maybe a sprint option. Very nicely done for a 10 day game jam event. I would love to see this proof of concept demo become a full fledged game one day. :)

Yeah, I also felt that the robot needed a sprint option latest when you get the jump ability, so definitely something I'll look into more for future updates. I've never attempted flying controls. I will try it out, but no guarantees. I've been thinking a bit more about the story of the game and if there is interest there might be a bit of an overhaul.

Thank you for playing!

Flight might make it too easy to traverse and if it is not something you were considering than there are other options.

You could expand on the jump mechanic and have a grab function to hang on to the side of a building and/ or a hover function. And then use that to jump higher. It would make any ascension efforts more rewarding than just flying there to. You could also add more jump platforms for those buildings. Right now you either have nothing to jump on or clip through some of the textures of the taller buildings.

Any of these mechanics-Hover, Flight, Grab, could have a limited use fuel meter that needs to replenish over time. Insuring that the player just cant hit fly and then access everything all at once. Or just spam Hover-jump their way across the map. Giving all these mechanics some balance.

Regarding story, I am curious why this boy has access to this mech when it seems no one else does. Is the mech an ancient technology he found and repaired? Is it sentient? I look for ancient world mysteries in these kind of stories/ games. Almost a hint of magic and ancient civilizations. So to speak.

It would be interesting to see more done with it. Hopefully there is enough player interest to make it worth while to do and it is something you would be interested in pursuing.

This is The Last Guardian, but with a cyberpunk spin on it. I really hope this becomes something bigger. I liked what I experienced so far.

Thanks. Yes! That's exactly what I was going for: Iron Giant meets The Last Guardian. I'm currently evaluating how much I will still add to the game. I have a couple of ideas, but it depends on how large the overall interest is.

Pretty fantastic gamejam game. So many game mechanics in there I can't comprehend.

Thanks, it was a lot of work :)

A promising, original concept, I'd love to play more and learn the story behind Adam. Keep up the good work!
